After Ten Years, A Beginning

In 2002, Dan graduated from Earlham College with a Spanish Literature major and a Japanese minor.  He left in mid-summer of that year for a job at the Tokyo Friends School.  He has made a very good life for himself in Japan, staying at the school, settling into Tsukuba and marrying Tomo.  They now have a one year old son, Kota, who has just learned to walk.  Dan and I have decided to start a project, using photos and words, to link our lives over the great distance.  We live in very different places in the world and we face different stages in our lives.  The photos will be of similar themes in our respective locales, which we hope will show both the differences and the similarities.  Cadillac is a small town in the midst of northern Michigan forests and Tsukuba is located northwest of Tokyo.  Dan is in the middle years of his career and the beginning of parenthood.  I am newly retired after forty years of work.  My retirement present from my family was a good camera, which will allow Dan and I to match technical specifications for our photography.
